“I long, as does every human being, to be at home wherever I find myself.”
– Maya Angelou
Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes! We have had a blast working on our client’s new home. Part of the fun was figuring out what to do with existing furniture from the last house and making it work (or not) within the new space. A few of the pieces in this airy sitting room, were plucked from the former living room. Although this home is modern and beachy, a mix of old and new is always symbiotic and far more interesting than a room that looks just like a page in a catalog.
These vintage chairs were reupholstered for their former French inspired parlor. They work beautifully in this neutral space with myriads of blue. Some classics never get old, and a tufted leather club chair will always be in style. The gilded console against the wall adds a touch of European nostalgia and is given new life with a fresh and loose ocean scape hanging above. Vintage wine jugs also moved effortlessly into this room from the last, and the antique rug looks much lighter with all the natural light spilling through the windows.
Crazy about these stools from Cisco Home! Teal stitched leather and steel packs a punch and create a mod industrial feel that melds with the mix of furniture eras.
I vowed to never sit on this chaise because I knew if I sat down, I wouldn’t be getting up any time soon. Super soft denim colored linen, mixed with vintage indigo pillows and one of our alpaca throws…can we say nap time?! On a beautiful So Cal day, these doors are flung open and the sun shines on in all day long. With a house full of kids, these rooms are as beautiful as they are inviting. Stay tuned for the dining room and kids craft room!
