“Mom, I want to redo my room.” Any parent with a budding teenage girl is bound to hear this request, if they haven’t already. Just you wait! When they cross the bridge from little girl to little woman, it is bittersweet as they reach new milestones and their interests begin to change. As a surprise for her birthday, our client took advantage of her daughter’s time away at camp this summer and we got to work on transforming the room of her dreams.
The power of paint. Bye bye mauve, hello hint of violet. With subtle walls, this room looks lighter, airier and bigger than before. A retro acrylic sphere suspended from the ceiling is a fun replacement to an oversized love seat. The existing bench was reupholstered in the perfect blue velvet, and tufted to match the recovered headboard. Twinkle lights line the upper molding, creating the perfect mood when winding down from a long day.
BEFORE | BED
Heavy bedding was replaced with crisp white sheets, and a Belgian linen duvet. Custom pillows in some of our fabrics from Hollywood at Home pull everything together. To add some texture, a vintage lamp we covered in purple shells is a funky touch to simple white nightstands. Now when this athlete and performer comes in from a jam packed day, she can kick back and unwind in a grown up space all to herself. Now if she can only keep her brother out…
