“Then she marched to the pillows and beat them mercilessly until they lay puffed out like obedient clouds.” – Kristen Cashore, Bitterblue
The only time we want to see fifty shades of grey is when it comes to design. Our client fell in love with this vintage rug from our collection, and we got to work on curating the perfect pieces for this master suite.
BEFORE | MASTER BEDROOM
Ready for an update to an oversized bed and art that was better suited elsewhere, our goal was to lighten the feel of the room while still keeping it cozy.
Give to me your leather, take from me, my lace. Nail heads add a masculine spin to a natural linen head board with feminine lines. A staple at our store, this Moroccan pom pom wool blanket is the perfect layer and matches the rug so well it’s ridic. The natural wood bench woven with recycled Sari fabric from Made Goods is the bookend to a divine bed. Juju hats from Cameroon in salmon and stone pick up the tones of the pillows in Jab’s Groovy Linen.
BEFORE | NIGHTSTANDS
Inspired after a trip for design inspiration, we took these naked vintage nightstands and stained only the outer layer of these little beauties. We swapped the fab asian pulls (don’t worry, we’ll use it on something else) for brass Moroccan hardware that suited the playful but calm vibe of this room. Our scalloped bone tray holds vintage brass orbs filled with roses.
BEFORE | VINTAGE SIDEBOARD
We peeped this cherry wood buffet at one of our fave vintage dealers and new it would convert beautifully when laquered.
The wonders of lacquer. A rich grey turned this sideboard into a proper dresser.
I never saw a vintage Italian swan chair I didn’t like. These were so old they had burlap strapping and horse hair stuffing, a true sign of a well made piece from yesteryear.
Goodbye beige, hello black and white. This speckled Double Dotty textile from Peter Fasano is a fun update to this antique swan chair. A polished horn lamp adds a sexy curve to the room, and our burled wood tray anchors the dresser. We are almost done with this gorgeous home. Stay tuned for the library and guest room of this Curious Valley Hideaway coming soon.
