“If a cluttered desk is the sign of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein

Beach House Entry - Before

With a bright and inviting room when entering the beach house, there was extra wall space with old storage doors that needed something.  We didn’t want to clutter the den, as the room is long and narrow.   With new storage built throughout the home, we were able to remove the doors and create flat walls. It was the perfect spot to put a desk for the lady of the house, while everyone else chills with their tablets and phones inside and out.

We are koo koo for cocoa puffs over burled wood!  This stunner is a great option for a smaller space and just right for a lap top or flat monitor.  Supplies are hidden within the drawers, leaving plenty of space to write and for the mouse to roam free.  A faux rattan peacock chair makes a grand statement, and white and wood are one of our fave combos for this neutral beachy scene.  A leather handled basket is a chic solution to an unsightly waste basket.  Our brass desk lamp sits on a marble base and doesn’t overpower the area.

Succulents are the absolute best choice for low maintenance as they are drought resistant and can do well indoors.  An antique French tureen from one of our hunts is given a new life when planted with some fresh greens.   A touch of the outdoors is always called for inside.   Wait till you see how the rest unfolds…

XO,
D.L.
