Behold, the blonde wood rears it’s head again! And this time, blondes do not have more fun. The stained glass was the only thing the owners wanted to keep, so we wanted to do something that would make the panes stand out while making a dramatic change with the bar. We used the perfect shade of grey in the dining room and living room and continued that into this shared space for cohesion and to mesh well with the newly polished stone floors.
What a difference paint can make! It really made the colors of the stained glass pop. To further dress up the space with alot of bang for the buck, we inserted sheets of antiqued mirror into the molding details along the bottom of the counter for reflection and some updated glam. The wood counter top was replaced with a stunning slab of rainbow onyx, rich with veins of grey throughout it’s perfectly pale pink base.
Our favorite modern barstool from CB2 is as budget friendly as it is aesthetically pleasing. Acrylic seats (which are surprisingly comfortable) and narrow legs make these a great fit for any space as they can look vintage or totally modern. These chairs only come in shiny chrome, and we were determined to turn them gold. Plating them was beyond the budget so we did the next best thing, hand leafed each stool with gold foil sealed with a marine varnish so they can stand the test of time. Sleek and sexy, these are able to make the bar the star of the show and keep the space looking open and inviting.
Brass top canisters from Arteriors are the perfect mix with our vintage bar ware and bone tray. Stocked with citrus, now drinks can be made with fresh ingredients and are a beautiful touch of color. Form and function, my favorite design marriage.
Orchids are my all time fave. Elegant, delicate, and sculpturally pleasing, they require minimal care and are easily replaced when they finally lose their blooms. The mirrored door to the right is now hidden storage for special bottles that are kept out of sight when hosting a large gathering. The Mrs. popped a bottle of her favorite champagne for us to imbibe while putting the final touches on their house before their huge family event. We opened the french doors, and let the warm sun shine in through this glorious new space. Stay tuned for the denoument of this home remodel, the library and sunken den…
