“Il ne faut pas toucher aux idoles: la dorure en reste aux mains.”
(Never touch your idols: the gilding will stick to your fingers) – Gustave Flaubert, Madame Bovary

Mia in #Paris | @D.L. Rhein

MY MIA | Age 13

Like the rays of the Sun, there is something so captivating about the warmth of gold.  No wonder it has been prized since the dawn of civilization from jewelry to art to technology. While visiting Paris with my middle child, we were awe struck by the golden beauty we found around one of the world’s most magical cities, often in places you’d least expect it.  My design has always been influenced by relics that pull me in and get my creativity flowing, new arrivals to our stores are no exception…

Doors + Gilding in #Paris | @D.L. Rhein

HOTEL BANKE | This charming boutique auberge has been touched throughout by Midas, starting with its entrance.

Architecture in #Paris #Gilding | @D.L. Rhein

GOLDEN DETAILS | Even the bridges in Paris are a little bit brighter.

Gold Madame Monsieur Glasses | @D.L.Rhein

MADAME MONSIEUR GLASSES |  A new shipment just arrived from one of our favorite French vendors and they just can’t wait to be filled with a Central Coast Pinot.

Gold Foil Letter Press | @D.L. Rhein

GOLD FOIL LETTERPRESS | We had a ball creating our custom letterpress cards for our stores at one of LA’s oldest printing houses, still using turn of the century machines.

Gilded Rim Tumbler | @D.L. Rhein

GILDED RIM GLASSES | These vintage beauties make the perfect vessel for a summery cocktail, The Gold Rush.

Gold Letter Openers | @D.L. Rhein

GILDED LETTER OPENERS | Form and function make these objets worthy of center stage in any office.

Gold Leaves in #Paris | @D.L. Rhein

These leaves inspired me to bust out the gold leaf when I returned to my studio.  First project on the agenda, gilding the back of my lucite coasters.

Gold Coasters | @D.L. Rhein

C’est bon, n’est pas?

XO,
D.L.
