26 Nov A FAMILY AFFAIR
“Love one another and you will be happy. It’s as simple and as difficult as that.” – Michael Leuning
I love the message which welcomes you into this home, “Shed your worries, you’re home.” There is something so profound in those 5 words and I think it should apply to guests just as it does to the home dwellers. After completing the living room and dining room of this Pasadena abode, we came over to do some extra touches in preparation for pre- wedding party for our client’s brother. The front door is the first thing people see, so we wanted to jazz it up a bit. Over sized cloches contain fresh orchids and reindeer moss. Simple and effortless while making a grand statement that is cost effective.
The Mrs. of the house created chalkboards throughout the backyard where most of the entertaining would take place. #adorable #thoughtful #love!
An extra cabinet was brought outside to create another bar space. Apothecary jars filed with fresh lemons are not only beautiful as decor, but useful and ecofriendly as they will be used for cocktails throughout the night. Vintage suzannis are draped on lounge chairs to add color and continue the eclectic vibe of their home while dining al fresco.
Let Love Sparkle! Custom match books are great favors and perfect for striking up our heart shaped sparklers from Tops Malibu. Magnolia leaves clipped from their giant tree are beautiful to scatter on tables, not to mention, they cost nothing!
The Beatles said it best…
Striped Washi tape is a casual and brilliant choice to mark Mason jars so your drink stays with you for the night. Paper straws in Autumnal colors add another pop of detail and make you feel like a kid again.
Sentiments a plenty, I have a feeling there won’t be a dry eye in the house before the night is over.
Remember that surfboard coffee table from the living room? It found a perfect home in the back yard turned lounge. A collection of vintage paintings from our hunts and travels transforms a bare wall into an outdoor gallery space. Bursts of color picking up the hues of the rugs, pillows and furniture, add drama not to mention the conversations that will spark. So much love fills this home, and I felt it every moment as we layered upon what thoughtful details a sister came up with for her little bro. Makes me think of when my kids reach that milestone in life…All You Need Is Love.
