12 Feb THE BOLD AND THE BLUETIFUL
“Good things are associated with blue, like clear days, more than singing the blues. Just the word ‘blue’ in the singular is full of optimism and positive connotation to people.”
– David Carson
This beautiful Brentwood home is a combination of old and new at its finest. When they left their old home, we mapped out what we had placed in the past while planning for the new and how it would work in the larger spaces. The family’s favorite color is blue, and the entire spectrum of this shade is shown through every room of this beachy abode.
BEFORE | Vintage Chair
When it got time to adding new furniture, I showed up with these Granny Chic beauts. One of the kids came home from school, saw them, and shrieked. “Ewww! That is so ugly. Get them out of here.” Trying hard not to show our amusement, we explained to her they would look totally different once we changed the fabric completely, we promised. Boy, did they ever…
AFTER | Leather Tufted Chair
An old world shade of blue was just right to make these chairs a new classic. Supple leather which stretches when upholstering, creating a stunning effect with a worn-in feel. The insides plump with tufting, and the bottom finely finished with small antiqued brass nailheads. Custom pillows for the sofa made with our hand woven Turkish silk velvet and vintage indigo African textiles are rich but casual, adding playful patterns throughout the room.
A giant reclaimed tin mirror is a piece of art in its own right. Adding shine and reflection throughout the room, it furthers the illusion of the room being even more airier than it already is. The Mrs. does love her pink and sneaks it in wherever she can. A pop of Gerbera daisies are just right for the color she yearns for, we noticed your Rose Savon bottles in the bathrooms 😉 With sunlight spilling in all day long, who doesn’t want to soak up some rays while lounging in this family room? I know we do!
