17 Sep DUPLICITOUS DUPLEX – PART IV
“You remember some bedrooms you have slept in. There are bedrooms you like to remember and others and others you would like to forget.” – Carl Sandburg
BEFORE | MASTER BEDROOM
After completing the living and dining rooms, the kitchen, and guest room and bath, we come to the denouement of this transformative makeover of a glorious abode. The pivotal change was made by making the entire apartment cohesive with dark floors and crisp white paint throughout. New crown moulding further elevates the space.
AFTER | MASTER BEDROOM
A fresh master bedroom waiting to be filled with furniture and pops of color. Oh the fun we would have decorating this space!
BEFORE | SUNROOM OF MASTER BEDROOM
This sun room attached to the master bedroom had become an afterthought. The only thing sunny in here was the light pouring in from the windows which look out to the garden! With plenty of storage built within the massive closets around the home, there was no need for this to be a dumping ground for miscellaneous notions.
AFTER | SUNROOM OF MASTER BEDROOM
Bye Bye ochre walls and blonde floors, hello crisp white and stunning ebony floors! A blown glass pendant works beautifully within this space and allows for use in the evening. I dream of what a glorious dressing room this could be for the lady of the house.
BEFORE | MASTER BATH SINK
This French country bathroom was ready to say Au Revoir to it’s current look and Bienvenue to a chic new face. The layout was not ideal to the size of the room so we decided to part ways amicably and start a new relationship with Home Depot.
AFTER | MASTER BATH DOUBLE SINKS
A separation of sinks create personal space and his and hers vanity areas. Martha Stewart to the rescue again with these modern and affordable sinks which provide plenty of storage so the bathroom always looks clean and pristine. These are affordably made custom by painting them in one of our favorite shades of grey by Benjamin Moore. One center window was created, and the old sealed up and replaced with mirrored medicine cabinets. Form and function at its best!
BEFORE | MASTER BATH TUB AND SHOWER
Pink Toile has seen better days! We couldn’t wait to turn this master bath into something grand enough for the man and woman of the house.
AFTER | MASTER BATH TUB
Calgon, take me away! A new tub becomes an extension of the wall when encased in a custom wood frame. The old tile was replaced with dark ceramic planks, a water friendly choice that keeps with the overall look of the home and richly stained wood floors of the bedroom.
Oh the wonders of (faux) marble! These beautiful veined sheets are a cost effective choice when you want a lot of bang for the buck as these are in fact porcelain tiles. I believe in beauty everywhere the eye can see, so why cover up a place that provides relaxation?! Small stone tiles give the floor a natural feel and provide some traction. Chrome fixtures make this master bath sparkle.
This job was extremely rewarding as we got to gut it head to toe and bring it into the millenium. But the greatest satisfaction came when we got a call from the owner. The property was rented within three days of it being listed on the market. C’est Bon, n’est pas?!
