DIGNIFIED DESK CHAIR

19 Sep DIGNIFIED DESK CHAIR

“If it’s the right chair, it doesn’t take too long to get comfortable in it.” – Robert De Niro

BEFORE | Antique leather desk chair

 BEFORE | VINTAGE SWIVEL CHAIR

When we stumbled across this chair, I thought about its former life.  Perhaps a banker or a lawyer spent hours each day in this grand throne long ago and its frame definitely stood the test of time.  Our client was looking for something to do just that, but in a luxe fabric that would be beautiful without sacrificing comfort for her home office.

Away with the worn black leather, in with a soft plush grey velvet!  Antiqued brass nail heads were replaced with new to keep with the regal look of this piece.  Some TLC was given to the wood to touch up any wear and tear and play up the richness of the wood – a stunning match with the rug as it pulls out the lavander and taupe undertones.  New castors will keep this beauty moving and free of the kinks from old age.  Fresh velvet covered buttons on the tufted seat give a girly touch and lighten the mood.

We’re bringing sexy back!  To the back of the chair that is with one of our favorite fabrics from R.P. Miller.  A striking pattern to add some drama, but neutral enough to not overpower the space.  We loved it so much, we got inspired to recover some vintage chairs for our desks at our studio, in production as we speak.  Goodbye plastic executive desk chairs, hello chic thrones!

XO,
D.L.
