30 Dec BREATHTAKING BEACH HOUSE – PART IV
“The beach is definitely where I feel most at home. It’s my oxygen.” – Behati Prinsloo
BEFORE | BEACH HOUSE DINING ROOM
Is there anything more heavenly than dining by the sea? Not that we can think of, especially when the salt air and Pacific waves are lapping right up to the back deck of this Malibu cottage. The existing dining area had a table and chairs, but when our clients purchased the property, they knew they wanted to make it a home. In dire need of storage, we created a space that would combine form and function allowing them to have holidays and weekend guests aplenty.
One of the goals of this project was to keep the feel and tone of this beach house harmonious with the sea and sand. Comfortable and relaxed doesn’t mean it has to lack refinement or style. These loomed string chairs were the perfect choice around a reclaimed wood dining table. Fresh cut orchids are all you need in one of our marbled ceramic vases for a stunning centerpiece. Built in cabinetry allows for them to show off their bar and stemware, with plenty of hidden storage below for all of their entertainment accoutrements. A beverage fridge with an ice maker below makes serving libations a breeze!
In need of some extra light when the sun sets over the ‘Bu, new sconces were added for a modern and sleek look that doesn’t take away from the curated display of new and old family favorites. I plotzed when I found these reclaimed wood shelves on a hunt, they might be my favorite thing in the whole house! We carefully selected items from our store to display on these beauties, a monochromatic delight. I love using Carrera marble for countertops with its stunning grey veining, reminding me of the remarkable buildings in Rome I saw over the summer.
Recycled glass beads from Africa add a pop to a piece of firework coral. That painting tho! Another score that I had to snatch up when I found an amazing collector who had treasures beyond my wildest dreams. A bronze and abalone nautilus is very happy in his new habitat.
Say Cheese! Our silver edge marble cheeseboard makes a few simple ingredients shine during an afternoon snack. Impromptu guests? Nuts, fruit and cheese are all you need to please anyone’s palate.
Moscow Mules? Yes please! Proper bartender tools were much needed, and this set of polished horn ones were just the right touch to a wood tray with petrified wood coasters.
It is impossible to ever tire of this view. This is the true meaning of bringing the outside in. Have I mentioned we never want to leave…? Stay tuned for the next chapter of this breathtaking beach house.
